I stumbled upon Kodu last night and was really impressed; it's Microsoft's "Visual Programming Language" of sorts, or something along those lines.

So far it seems like there's a lot you can do, and it seems accessible enough that even those whom have never dabbled in game design before can probably do some neat things while ramping up their skills.

I'm going to try to see if I can make a miniature version of Light's End. ;)

It's actually an XNA game, so you can download the demo and play it in 8 minute chunks for as long as you want. That's the best way to figure it out.

It's definitely a double-edged sword; I played a bit more last night and was able to make some characters that if you bumped into another character, you started controlling the other one instead, and if you shot another character then they would say some stuff.

At the very least, it's an interesting toy, and from what I hear they'll be continuing to support it via updates, so it'll be cool to see what people pump out.

I bought Kodu, the same day I got Lights End (also got Monkey Island :D )

Its a very powerful game creation tool. It doesn't use code and is all icon driven. Really well laid out and easy to use. Year ago I got quite into DIV Games Studio and Dark Basic. Its a similar kind of thing I can't wait to get stuck into it further. There are loads of tutorials and stuff on there.

The fact its icon driven though means you can't control stuff as much as you can with pure code so it is kinda restricted and apparently you can't make your own textures and stuff.

The whole downloading games other people have made side of things doesn't seem to be up and running yet, despite Kodu being out for a while now :/

I bought Kodu and Light's End on the same day and just started working on a Light's End game for Kodu.
